The activity, co-organised by Fundación Vodafone Spain and the Autonomous Community of Madrid, took place on the 7th September and 46 volunteers took part.  The mobile app and website TUR4all went out into the streets of Madrid on the 7th September to hold its pilot event, organised by PREDIF (the Representative State Platform for People with Physical Disabilities), Fundación Vodafone (Vodafone Foundation) Spain and the Autonomous Community of Madrid. The meeting point was the Sala Alcalá 31, where Coral Sanz Herranz, Deputy Managing Director of Tourism Promotion and Marketing for the Community of Madrid welcomed the group. Then, Mari Satur Torre, Director of Innovation at Fundación Vodafone Spain, presented the app and how it operates, and Tatiana Alemán, Technical Director of Universal Accessibility at PREDIF, explained how the activity would work and the allocation of areas across the city. Around 40 volunteers from several organisations including PREDIF, Fundación Vodafone Spain, Plena Inclusión (Full Inclusion) Madrid, CERMI (the Spanish Committee of Representatives of People with Disabilities) Madrid, ONCE (National Organisation for the Blind) and Fundación TECSOS (TECSOS Foundation), visited various establishments in the centre of Madrid and collected information on their accessibility features, taking measurements and photographs. They then included that information on the TUR4all mobile app via a questionnaire.  The day ended with the volunteers returning to the meeting point where they reviewed and talked about the experience. There was also a discussion on possible improvements that could be made to the app. PREDIF aims to achieve several goals through this event, which will be repeated under the name TUR4all Fiesta in the other regions where the organisation operates. The first is to raise awareness among shopkeepers and managers of restaurants, tourist and leisure establishments about the need for their premises and services to be accessible for everyone, in particular for people with disabilities. The second is to publicise the TUR4all app among public interest organisations in the disability sector and the general public, as well as to produce a surge in downloads of the app along with new information on tourist establishments all in one day, thanks to the group of participants. PREDIF, MADRID CITY COUNCIL AND AUTONOMOUS COMMUNITY OF MADRID SIGN AGREEMENT ON ACCESSIBLE TOURISM10/8/2017 The initiatives set out in this agreement will be put into action at the event ALLMADRID4all, to be held from the last week in November until the 4th December, coinciding with the International Day of Persons with Disabilities on the 3rd December. In June, a collaboration agreement was signed by PREDIF, the Representative State Platform for People with Physical Disabilities, the Office of Culture and Tourism through the Community of Madrid Department of Tourism and the City Council’s Madrid Destino. Its purpose is to promote accessibility in tourism and culture in the City of Madrid and the rest of the tourist destinations in the region. ALLMADRID4all will bring together the initiatives set out in the agreement and will consist of three events in one, to be held in late 2017, coinciding with the International Day of Persons with Disabilities on the 3rd December. This agreement has two key aims. The first is to raise awareness among professionals in the local, public and private tourism industry about the needs of these clients and to publicise innovative tools and solutions for enabling them to be more competitive through accessibility. The second is to promote the region and city of Madrid as accessible destinations among specialist tour operators and travel agencies in the countries tourists come from, publicising the accessibility features of their tourist resources and services. What Will Happen at the Event The first activity to take place will be the Fam / Blog trip, from the 27th to the 30th November. It will be an accessible trip around the Madrid region and the city of Madrid aimed at bloggers with disabilities and tour operators and travel agencies that specialise in accessible tourism in the countries visitors come from including the US, the UK, France, Italy and Germany. During the trip, they will visit the region’s most emblematic places, such as Alcalá de Henares, Aranjuez and San Lorenzo de El Escorial and all the premises and activities featuring in the experience will be suitably accessible for everyone.  Another initiative will be the TUR4all Fiesta, which will be held on the 2nd December. The TUR4all accessible tourism mobile app and website have been created by PREDIF and Fundación Vodafone (Vodafone Foundation) Spain for helping to enable people with accessibility requirements to travel, enjoy tourist destinations and take part in leisure activities just like any other tourists. During this event people with disabilities and tourist industry volunteers and professionals will meet at the Real Casa de Correos (Royal Post Office Building) and then make an organised journey around the streets of Madrid in order to include information about new tourist establishments on the mobile app TUR4all. The TUR4all Fiesta is a public event for raising awareness that will end with a music and dance show at the Palacio de Cibeles (Cybele Palace).
The International Meeting on Accessible Tourism 2017 will be the last ALLMADRID4all event and will take place at the Vodafone Spain auditorium on the 4th December. It will be attended by some 150 professionals from Spain and abroad with extensive experience in accessible and responsible tourism, travellers with accessibility requirements, government bodies, private companies, travel agencies and tour operators that are already working in this field. The meeting is aimed at local, public and private tourist industry professionals and is intended to be a forum for considering in detail and boosting accessible tourism in the region. The new federation becomes the eighth to have been set up on Spanish soil and will continue to work in the fields of accessible tourism and personal assistance. A group of volunteers will visit several establishments around Malaga to assess their accessibility and include them on an accessible tourism app. During the event, Isabel García, Chairwoman of PREDIF Malaga, Mari Satur Torre, Director of Innovation at Fundación Vodafone (Vodafone Foundation) Spain and Tatiana Alemán, Technical Director of Universal Accessibility, Tourism and Culture at PREDIF, will explain what the TUR4all app is about and give instructions on how the activity will work. After this trip, the presentation of PREDIF Malaga will take place at Bodega Bar 'El Pimpi’. Isabel García, Chairwoman of PREDIF Malaga, will present her team and the work they will be doing. Antonio Hermoso, Chairman of Codisa-PREDIF Andalusia, Paqui Bazalo, Accessibility Councillor for the Malaga City Council, and Víctor González, Provincial Coordinator of Citizen and Volunteer Engagement at the Regional Office for Equality, Health and Social Policy of the Regional Government of Andalusia and a representative of the Provincial Council of Malaga will also take part in the presentation. The Fiesta will be brought to a close with an afternoon snack and a performance by the singer Tamara Jerez, who took part in the television programme “Tu cara no me suena todavía” on which contestants imitate famous singers. The TUR4all Platform In 2012, PREDIF and Fundación Vodafone created the first version of TUR4all, which aimed to provide users with reliable information that had been verified by experts on the accessibility of tourist establishments throughout Spain. Until 2016 TUR4all was an app and website for looking up information, but users wanted to have the opportunity to recommend accessible tourist establishments.  That is why the two organisations considered it important to take the project further and decided to turn TUR4all into a community of active users and make tourists with accessibility requirements opinion leaders in accessible tourism.
The new, improved version of the app makes it possible to expand the database of accessible tourist resources through the collaboration of users, placing them at the fore. It also makes it possible to create interaction with and among users, forming an active community that is linked to social networks, give TUR4all international reach and get information on tourist resources outside Spain and offer managers of tourist destinations, establishments and services the opportunity to get feedback from their clients who have accessibility requirements. In addition, it is a multilingual platform so it can be used in Spanish, English, French, German, Portuguese, Italian, Catalan, Valencian, Basque and Galician. As with the first version, TUR4all provides information on accessibility for travellers with physical and other types of requirements, including people with visual, hearing and cognitive impairments, and aims to improve accessible tourism around the world. It also seeks to empower tourists with accessibility requirements so that they share information on accessible destinations and experiences and help others feel more confident about travelling. In addition, PREDIF aims to raise awareness in tourist destinations and establishments about how accessibility can boost their growth and development and benefit their business, which is why TUR4all is a key tool for tourists, government bodies and private companies. |
